The Via Silente (Silent Way) is a circular cycling route of approximately 600 km in the Cilento region of southern Italy. The route passes through quiet villages, rolling hills, forested mountains, and coastal viewpoints. Here’s a suggested breakdown of stages with notable attractions: 

1. Castelnuovo Cilento → Pollica Distance: ~35 km | Terrain: Rolling hills
Points of Interest: Medieval village of Castelnuovo Cilento, Pollica town center, coastal views near Acciaroli.
Start your journey in the hilltop village of Castelnuovo Cilento and descend gently toward Pollica, with charming streets and glimpses of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
 
2. Pollica → Vatolla Distance: ~28 km | Terrain: Gentle hills, rural roads Points of Interest: Pollica Castle, olive groves, small traditional farms, and quiet village streets. This stage moves from the coast toward inland hills, with peaceful roads and scenic rural landscapes.
   
3. Vatolla → Trentinara Distance: ~30 km | Terrain: Rolling hills Points of Interest: Vatolla historic center, panoramic viewpoints over the Cilento valleys, Trentinara town with its famous “Balcony of Cilento.” Enjoy a mix of climbs and descents, connecting rural villages and expansive valley views.
   
4. Trentinara → Felitto Distance: ~32 km | Terrain: Moderate climbs Points of Interest: Felitto town, medieval bridges, and the Felitto gorges with scenic streams. This inland stretch offers gradual elevation gains and scenic countryside.
   
5. Felitto → Petina Distance: ~40 km | Terrain: Undulating, light mountain climbs Points of Interest: Alburni foothills, small forest paths, panoramic overlooks, Petina village charm. Experience peaceful forest roads and rolling hills as you approach the Alburni area.
   
6. Petina → Roscigno Distance: ~25 km | Terrain: Short climbs, wooded paths Points of Interest: Historical villages, shaded woodland tracks, quiet local roads. A technical but scenic stage with a focus on natural landscapes and village culture.
   
7. Roscigno → Teggiano Distance: ~35 km | Terrain: Rolling hills Points of Interest: Roscigno Vecchia (ghost town), Teggiano historic center, local artisan shops. Balanced stage with climbs and long descents, offering a mix of history and countryside.
   
8. Teggiano → Sanza Distance: ~38 km | Terrain: Moderate hills Points of Interest: Vallo di Diano landscapes, hillside villages, scenic valley roads. A serene stage through valleys and small settlements.
   
9. Sanza → Monte Cervati Loop (Optional) Distance: ~45 km | Terrain: Challenging mountain climb Points of Interest: Monte Cervati summit (1,898 m), panoramic mountain views, rich flora and fauna. Optional for experienced riders; rewards include high-altitude scenery and a sense of adventure.

11. Casaletto Spartano → San Giovanni a Piro Distance: ~42 km | Terrain: Rolling terrain Points of Interest: Olive groves, small villages, early coastal views of the Gulf of Policastro. Transition from inland hills to the coastal plains in a relaxed stage.
   
12. San Giovanni a Piro → Palinuro Distance: ~30 km | Terrain: Coastal roads and mild climbs Points of Interest: Palinuro coast, cliffs and beaches, Capo Palinuro lighthouse. A scenic ride along the Cilento coast with spectacular sea views.
